Business English Program

ELI BE 304/305

Prerequisite: B1 CEFR, 4 IELTS or equivalent

Why study Business English?

The English language is the world’s lingua franca and the working language for business, economics, politics, trade, and international law. Proficiency in Business English helps to open doors to your role in the global economy.

The Program

ELI BE 304:  Build your confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing English in business contexts. Increase your vocabulary and practise using Business English in everyday business situations on the telephone, in meetings, presentations or negotiations.

ELI BE 305:  This course will provide you with a more sophisticated command of written and spoken Business English. It focuses on writing formal emails and executive reports, developing and delivering effective presentations, chairing and participating in meetings.

Please note that these are not credit courses, and they are also open to non UBC students wishing to continue their career and personal education.
